Heyhey,
Girl dad here, I've got 2 of them aged 2.5 and 9 months.
I'm currently a HGV driver working in vehicle recovery at the moment, been there 8 months as of this morning. Spent my 20s and early 30s as a chef working in village pubs, cafes, city centre- and country house hotels, would probably have been awarded an AA rosette at the latter if owners had not been trying to retire and sell the business.
My free time is currently spent making sure my elder daughter doesn't kill herself through general toddler hijinks, running repairs to the house, listening to ice hockey podcasts and royally messing up my fantasy team.
Pre children you'd have found me on a rugby pitch/in a dojang or playing various console pc games ranging from Total War to NHL to F1 and Command & Conquer.
Currently living in Solihull but loose plans of moving to North Wales within the next 8 years.

Welcome to the forum,
That's quite a change, chef to truck driver, how did you decide to go down that route?

I'd always wanted to leave hospitality before my mid 30s.. especially after working with chefs the wrong side of 45 who could not keep up with the pace required. That and it was slowly killing me. I've neither smoked nor consumed more than 15 units of alcohol in 1 sitting since my penultimate shift behind the pass.
Anyway, my wife and I moved closer to her family so we'd have a bigger support network when starting our own.. I got a job delivering courtesy taxis, driving school cars and 4x4s, remembered I enjoyed driving and so decided to get my hgv licence to maximise potential earnings for doing something I actually like..

Sounds like it was a good move, especially if you enjoyed driving
Which company were you delivering driving school cars for, could quite possibly be the same company that delivers mine haha

VRG.. They tend to do credit hire replacements rather than simply delivering a vehicle..
