Hi dads
out of the blue I got a phone call from a recruiter. They found my CV online somehow but it’s an old one from 2 jobs ago. It’s so true that once something is online it seems to be there for good!
I am now in a hard position of actually quite liking the sound of the job they had to offer but not sure if it’s just the money I’m liking the sound of. I am happy where I am at as I get paid good money for doing little work in the grand scheme of things but when the work comes in it’s very stressful and comes all at once, Like it is right now, and I feel this might be why I feel attracted to this other job.
The new job is about £14k more a year but it’s 4 on 4 off but not sure if it’s days and nights either. I currently get a company vehicle which I wouldn’t with the new job but I have just got the wife an electric car for learning in which I could use to get to the job for now so not a major issue although would struggle to go overly far in it but could probably get around that by swapping with my parents vehicles. Currently I’m on call every other week although don’t really get called out but the major thing is me having to work away occasionally and this does seem to be having an effect on the kids when I go away.
The wife’s contribution was well that would save me getting a job in the short term (which is hard to find something around the randomness of my job and school/nursery hours) which was my hope to get the 30 hours for my daughter come September but also 16 hours of income from the wife would be a nice bonus.
Any thoughts appreciated on any of it and anyone working 4 on 4 off especially how do you find it? I’m worried working the weekend might be abit of a weird one initially with not getting that time with the kids but also liking the idea of having 4 days off to actually get things done
