Free food

We have been invited to a project finishing party from a long time customer that has now changed our system to someone else’s. I spent many weekends/evenings on site to aid the transition process from our system to someone else’s so feel it’s worth going. It’s tonight and food and drink is all paid for but unfortunately I’m driving! The menu was on the more expensive side for what I am used to so was feeling bad and ended up selecting a burger as did my boss who is attending. I then see an email come through from another company attending and they are all having steaks. I’m now wishing I had just gone for the steak but was trying to be polite on costs!

What’s everyone’s go to option for work meals if you get to attend any?

I am the same as you mate. I’d rather go for a reasonably priced meal than take the pee.
